70's Night
Carly Smithson - CRAZY ON YOU - a thousand times better this week; however, her stage presence still leaves a lot to be desired. I have yet to be WOWed by her.
Syesha Mercado - ME & "MR." JONES - the end was nice, but that's about it. I did nooot like the song choice... dull, duller, dullest.
Brooke White - YOU'RE SO VAIN - the song was a perfect fit, although there were times when her voice was drowned out by the music. She has a really pure, unpretentious quality to her voice (much like Jason Castro). This "beauty school dropout" is a breath of fresh air!
Ramiele Malubay - DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY - That. Girl. Can. Blow. I loved the song, but she didn't inject enough personality into the performance.
Kristy Lee Cook - YOU'RE NO GOOD - she is certainly not a natural in front of the camera. She looks kind of awkward when she's squatting and bopping her head around. That said, her vocals were great and it was a much better song choice this week. Good job!
Amanda Overmyer - CARRY ON WAYWARD SON - note to stylist: do not EVER make her look like that again. This was a reeeally lackluster performance. She might be on the bubble after tonight.
Alaina Whitaker - HOPELESSLY DEVOTED - I absolutely love her voice, but the performance was kind of High School Musical-ish.
Alexandrea Lushington - IF YOU LEAVE ME NOW - talk about taking two steps forward, then two steps back! Her performance last week was totally unique and exciting... this week, not so much. The song was just wrong, wrong, wrong.
Kady Malloy - MAGIC MAN - it seems like she sings Britney Spears and opera better than anything else at this point in the competition. Contrary to what she said in her post-performance interview with Ryan, she did not look like she was having fun on stage.
Asia'h Epperson - ALL BY MYSELF - that was rough. I wasn't at all impressed. Bad song choice, she certainly didn't play to her strengths. There was nothing remotely entertaining or engaging about that performance.
** MY TOP 5 ** Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook, Ramiele Malubay, Alaina Whitaker
** MY BOTTOM 5 ** Syesha Mercado, Asia'h Epperson, Alexandrea Lushington, Kady Malloy, Amanda Overmyer
