The race for the White House has gotten ugly... very ugly! It has increasingly become clear that both sides of the aisle are bound and determined to throw low blows at each other in the hopes of landing that knockout punch. With the stakes so high this election year, more and more candidates are engaging in "TAKE NO PRISONERS" politics. McCain and Romney have been duking it out over Florida, while the terrible twosome that is Bill and Hillary Clinton have been pounding on Obama's character and experience (or lack thereof).
Billary and surrogates continued their dumpster diving campaign against Obama heading into last Saturday's South Carolina Democratic primary. Their trashtalking tactics backfired, as Obama clobbered Clinton by 28 percentage points. The fight got even dirrrtier when Bill Clinton marginalized Obama's candidacy by pointing out that "Jesse Jackson won the Palmetto State in '84 and '88." Check out the video clip below. Slick Willy got hammered by the media, with many pundits claiming Clinton played the "race" card. Oh, no he didn't!
All of the mud slinging by the Clinton campaign provoked one of the party's establishment, Sen. Ted Kennedy, to join ranks with Obama. Even Caroline Kennedy, who hasn't endorsed a candidate since 1980, is backing Obama. She broke the news in an op-ed piece for the NY Times entitled "A President Like My Father." They, along with Sen. Kennedy's son Patrick, gave rousing speeches at an Obama rally yesterday at American University in Washington D.C. Teddy was intensely passionate in his endorsement... so much so, that at one point while he was screaming, I was afraid he was going to clutch his chest and keel over. Yikes! Obama-mania was in full force during the event... quite a spectacle, with reports of onlookers crying and cheering uncontrollably. What do you think? Is Obama the new JFK or the new Jesse Jackson?
Then, there's the GOP fray between McCain and Romney. While Mitt's $Money$ machine has run negative ads since the first primary in Iowa, it seems the fight for 57 delegates in Florida's winner-take-all contest has finally brought out the worst in John McCain. Virtually tied in the polls, the two candidates have been trading attacks using the L-word! Grow up, people!!
McCain claims Romney favors timetables in regard to troop withdrawal from Iraq, just like Hillary Clinton. Moreover, McCain threw a sucker punch at Romney by pointing out Mitt's consistency in changing positions. That hurt! Romney claims McCain's record in the Senate is anything BUT conservative. Furthermore, Romney charges McCain is weak on the economy and illegal immigration. Click here to read more details. I expect, in the hours before polls close today, McCain will hit Romney with "I know you are, but what am I?!"... to which Romney will respond "Your mama!!" Yes, folks, it's gotten THAT childish.
So... is McCain clueless when it comes to the economy? Watch this clip and you decide!**
What about Romney... will he say anything just to get votes? Watch the video and decide for yourself!**
** I do NOT endorse Ron Paul or CNN.
