iowa hearts huckabee, hillary not so much

Heeere we go... the race for the White House has officially begun!! At 9:00 P.M. EST, NBC News calls Iowa for Huckabee. It's aaall good... unless you're a Clinton supporter, that is.

At 10:25 P.M. EST, Hillary did her best to spin the disappointment of finishing 3rd BEHIND Barack Obama and John Edwards into a resonating call for change, i.e. "a Democratic President in the White House in 2009". Don't hold your breath, Hillary. A new beginning... change... she must have said those words 50 million times during her speech. All the while, good old Bill was framing her on the right hand side of my TV screen. Aaah, Bill: 1st LAD in Waiting. A vote for Hillary puts Bill back in the White House. How does THAT constitute "a new beginning" or "change"? Hillary and Bill. Been there, done that. No, thank you! Based on the results in Iowa, most people agree. 67% of tonight's turnout was AGAINST Hillary Clinton. This was NOT the coronation she was hoping for. Obama is surging, the Dems have thrown their support behind him. Next week in New Hampshire will sure be exciting.

Then, it was my man Huckabee's turn, time for his V is for VICTORY speech!! Despite being outspent almost 15 to 1... despite the onslaught of negative attacks against him... HUCKABEE WON IOWA. Highlights from his speech include:

* "People really are more important than the purse."

* "This election is not about me, it's about WE... WE THE PEOPLE."

* "This country yearns and is hungry for leadership that recognizes that, when one is elected to public office, one is not elected to be a part of the ruling class, he's elected to be a part of a serving class."

* "I wish it were all over tonight and we could just celebrate the whole thing, but unfortunately, if this were a marathon, we've only run half of it, but we've run it well. And it's on from here to New Hampshire, and then to the rest of the country."

This man knows how to CONNECT with people. He's downright likable, the anti-establishment candidate. Now, it's on to New Hampshire, indeed. **SIDE NOTE: According to Susan Estridge on FNC, candidates who have won Iowa in the past typically have NOT gone on to win the presidency.**

It's time to ROCK THE VOTE, people!!
